He consults with people across all spectrums of life.
Incredibly passionate about his life’s work, Brett is highly approachable, compassionate, wise and driven to make a difference in the lives of the people he works with. His personal journey has firmly cemented his belief in the power of depth psychology and the influence that our own unconscious mind holds over us.
Brett holds a masters degree in clinical psychology and has a rich background of training. Not a half measure man, he attained each of his psychology degrees with distinction. After having worked in hospitals and clinics he moved into private practice to begin training as a psychoanalyst – At the time of his admittance, he was the youngest ever South African candidate to be accepted. He trained under, and is a member of, the South African Psychoanalytic Association which is an arm of the International Psychoanalytical Association. Wanting to augment his skillset, Brett subsequently undertook experiential group analysis training and has facilitated therapeutic groups in clinics, hospitals, schools and NGO’s. He further serves as the chairman of the executive committee of the South African Psychoanalytic Confederation.
Brett is an avid nature lover and comes from a family of adventurers. He talks of been born in a hospital and going home to a tent. He spends much of his free time in the bush and in particular the Lapalala wilderness area. He loves hiking in the mountains – Although he has summited Kilimanjaro, South Africa’s Natal Drakensberg is his favorite mountain range. Very well travelled, he has come to believe through his experiences that there is no power more humbling than nature. It is his belief that by spending time in nature on trail, in the manner which we do, it is easier to connect to our core humanity which serves to unlock greater potential in all of us.
